FREDDIE DUNN Q-TET: THE STORY

How We Got Here

Trumpeter Freddie Dunn is well known for his feature work with the groundbreaking Jazz/soul collective, Fertile Ground. While touring extensively with Fertile Ground he kept his exploratory jazz appetite whet with the award winning grunge Jazz bands of pianist Lafayette Gilchrist.

His solo work from their latest CD, "Soul Progressin'" was featured on 'The Wire' and won a 2009 Independent Music Award. In 2010 he won the Maryland Artist Award for solo trumpet. His latest CD, "Longing for the Moon", features the slinky, sexy hit "Looking At The Moon", and a soulful midnight-smooth take on the standard, "Nature Boy".

Upcoming projects include a new acoustic quartet/quintet set, "Spin Control", due this spring, and an original suite based on Japanese folk songs. Stay tuned!
